"do it yourself mobile robot"
well,this is quit interesting topic to discuss.anybody know what is criteria of robots that can be consider as autonomous robot?well,for me, as long as the robot can navigate itself surround area,it is enough to declare as autonomous.but do you know waht makes it autonomous?
well, basically, autonomous robot system can be divided into 3 sections which are:
1: mechanical sections
2: controller/electronics sections
3: software
Mechanical:
For mechanical part, it is important to choose type of your robot..well,this will need you to decide what type of robot yo ant to build.for example, mobile robot,biped robot,or even crawling robot like spiders..but,for first time build,it is enugh for you t choose mobile robot because the drive system is only use wheel to move the robot and the programming also easy to generate later.
Controller
Mechanical without controller means nothing.Besides having a mechanical part, a controller of robot also important.There are many types of controller outside there you can choose.depend on your applications and requirements.For me,i just use the autonomous robot controller which can be found in malaysia.This controller is deveop by BIZBOT ENterprise.The controller have on board relay that can handle upt to 10amp current flor of motor and can controll the DC in two direction. besides, it also have LCD display that can be use to monitor the activity of the controller.the controller also suit with my sensor development board..Using PICClite compiler and MPlab editor,the programming can be write and burn into the PIC using the BOOtloader which is already have inside the microcontroller.

SOFTWARE:
SOFTWARE THAT YOU USE IS DEPEND ON THE controller you buy.many manufacturer have prepare a software that compatible with the controller. Like this one, i use MPlab editor and pICCLite compiler that can be download at http://www.microchip.com/
